Cultural references[edit]
- The episode name is a reference to Four Weddings and a Funeral.
- The couch gag is a parody of The Hobbit.
- On the map, "LAX Self Parking" is a reference to Los Angeles International Airport, whose identifier code is "LAX",
- The statue of Eugene Levy is holding an American Pie flag.
- Kent Brockman mentions the film Up when Bart is stuck in the balloon basket.
- KISS references:
- Songs: "Detroit Rock City" and "Christine Sixteen".
- Homer dresses up as Gene Simmons.
Marcia Wallace[edit]
"Four Regrettings and a Funeral" was the first episode to air following Wallace's death on October 25, 2013.
- In tribute to Ms. Wallace, the episode's chalkboard gag was "We'll really miss you Mrs. K."
- The closing credits included a dedication clip. It was captioned "In loving memory of Marcia Wallace" and depicted Mrs. Krabappel sitting on her desk. After a brief silence, Mrs. K gave vent to her trademark "Ha!"

- Homer's passion for bowling balls is reestablished in this episode, from the early seasons of the show. ("Life on the Fast Lane" et al.)

- Chip Davis is said to be a "Dome-Shards Removal Supervisor". (The Simpsons Movie)
- Chip Davis was also said to be a former Duffman. There being multiple Duffmen has been made clear in previous episodes. ("Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play") and ("Jaws Wired Shut")

Credits[edit]
There was another set of credits to be aired as a tribute to Chip Davis. However, due to Marcia Wallace's tribute, the credits were cut from the original airing of the episode. Each scene in the credits is from a previous episode and shows where Chip was in each of these. In the original airing of each of these scenes, Chip was not in any of them. These credits were put into subsequent airings of the episode (International/Online version). On Disney+, the end credits of this episode are with Chip Davis tribute.

Goofs[edit]
- When Marge is about to recall how she listened to KISS, Kirk Van Houten can be seen with gray hair.
- Alice Glick makes another post-death appearance at the town square.
- Legs' colors constantly change at the beginning (at one point he has Blue-haired lawyer's colors).
- Lionel Hutz's hair briefly changes from brown to black at the funeral.
- When Reverend Lovejoy asks if anyone had any regrets, Sanjay has yellow skin and brown hair and Johnny Tightlips has blond hair.
- Whitney Spuckler is called "Peaches" by Cletus. This might just be Cletus making a mistake as he has so many children or he might have changed her name.
- In the "The Homer They Fall" picture in the Chip Davis credits, Fat Tony has been replaced by a random person.
